โœจ First Impressions: A Hidden Treasure Behind Historic Doors

You might walk right past itโ€”the exterior blends beautifully into downtown Chattanoogaโ€™s historic architecture. But step inside and itโ€™s a whole different story.

Neon lights, bold colors, mid-century decor, and vintage oddities fill the lobby and hallways. Every corner feels like a curated moment (though professional photography is prohibited in public areas, FYI).

This isnโ€™t your average boutique hotel. This is The Dwell Hotel Chattanoogaโ€”and itโ€™s proud of being a little weird in all the right ways.

๐Ÿ›‹๏ธ Lounge in the Lobby

The lobby area feels like a retro cocktail party waiting to happenโ€”think plush seating, vintage vibes, and an Instagram-worthy color palette of greens, pinks, and yellows. Itโ€™s chic but still cozy.

Steve and I found ourselves just hanging out down here, soaking in the detailsโ€”some random, some delightful, and all perfectly placed.

๐Ÿธ Drinks at Matilda Midnight: Chattanoogaโ€™s Coolest Hotel Bar?

Weโ€™ve always loved downtown date nights, but sipping drinks under the twinkling ceiling of Matilda Midnight, The Dwellโ€™s on-site bar, made it feel extra special. The vibe is glam, moody, and a little magical.

Pro tip: Even if youโ€™re not staying here, come for a cocktail. The vibe alone is worth it.

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Rooms at The Dwell Hotel Chattanooga

There are just 16 rooms, and each one has its name, style, and theme. No two are alike.

We stayed in Room #38 โ€” The Puzzle Room, and it came with hardwood floors, a romantic soaking tub, and views of Chattanoogaโ€™s historic rooftops. The bed was plush, the sheets were crisp, and yesโ€”there was even a chocolate-dipped Oreo. Little touches like that win me over every time.

๐Ÿ’ก What Makes The Dwell Hotel Stand Out?

  • Only 16 individually designed rooms
  • Bold, funky mid-century decor
  • Quiet but central location
  • Fun, stylish staff
  • Instagram-worthy (but not overly precious) vibes
  • Romantic touches & thoughtful design

Any Downsides to booking a stay at The Dwell Hotel?

If I had to point out one downside to The Dwell Hotel, it would be the locationโ€”not because itโ€™s bad, but because there are hotels in Chattanooga with a more central spot. While The Dwell is still within walking distance of many downtown attractions, itโ€™s slightly tucked away compared to other options like The Hotel Chalet at the Chattanooga Choo Choo, which is right in the heart of the Southside district.

Still, if you donโ€™t mind a short stroll (or a quick rideshare), The Dwellโ€™s style and atmosphere more than make up for its quieter setting.

๐Ÿงณ Final Thoughts from a Local

Iโ€™d wanted to stay at The Dwell Hotel Chattanooga for years. When the opportunity came upโ€”coincidentally during a photography session with a fantastic Chattanooga coupleโ€”I jumped at it.

And you know what? It was even better than I expected.

If youโ€™re looking for a unique place to stay in Chattanooga with a splash of glam and a whole lot of character, this is it. Youโ€™ll leave with a smile, a story, and maybe a few great photos (from the approved areas, of course).
