🏨 First Impressions

A Hotel That Blends Right In

At first glance, the Hilton blends in so well with the charming historic architecture that you might miss it entirely—and that’s part of the appeal. This isn’t a big, flashy hotel. It’s a tasteful, thoughtfully designed property that fits perfectly with the city’s old-world vibe.

We pulled right up for valet parking ($40 per night, and required), which felt like a fair deal considering parking in downtown St. Augustine can be a bit of a headache.

Inside, the lobby is small but elegant, and the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming. One team member even gave Steve a local tip on where to find the best oysters in town (spoiler: he found them and was very happy about it).

Between the warm hospitality, ideal location, and historic charm, it’s easy to see why the Hilton Bayside is considered one of the Best Hotels in Downtown St. Augustine Florida.

🛏️ Our Room: Bay Views and Downtown Charm

We stayed in Room 214, a corner suite with a private balcony and a lovely side view of the Matanzas Bay, the Bridge of Lions, and cobblestone streets below.

The room was spacious and airy, with a very comfortable king-size bed. While the furnishings were minimal, we had everything to relax and enjoy the space.

We were slightly concerned about noise, being in the heart of downtown. But truthfully, St. Augustine winds down pretty early, and we weren’t bothered.

  • Shops, galleries, and sail excursions.

We walked everywhere and loved not having to move our car once.

🍽️ Breakfast Highlights

We only had breakfast at the hotel—just one morning—but it definitely hit the spot. Steve and I both ordered the yogurt and fruit parfait, which was fresh and tasty. But the real star? One of the best croissants I’ve ever had. Flaky, buttery perfection.

The breakfast room was cozy, and service was prompt and friendly.

💦 Pool Time and Room Comforts

While I snuck in a well-deserved afternoon nap, Steve enjoyed downtime by the hotel’s small outdoor pool. It’s not a big resort-style pool, but it’s perfect for cooling off after a day exploring in the Florida heat.

Wi-Fi was free, worked well, and we had no issues staying connected.

The king bed was super comfortable, and while the room felt slightly sparse, it was clean and peaceful. Our only tiny critique? It might be time to refresh the pillows and towels—just a little worn, but not a dealbreaker.
